  • What is a rubber accelerator used for?
  • Storage stable. Usage: Accelerator for natural rubber and synthetic rubber, with a wide vulcanization range, can be used alone or with dithiocarbamates, thiurams, guanidines and other alkaline accelerators agent in combination. Mainly used in the manufacture of tires, tapes, rubber shoes and other industrial rubber products.
  • What is MBTs (benzothiazyl disulfide)?
  • MBTS (Benzothiazyl Disulfide) is a non-staining, primary thiazole accelerator for use in natural and synthetic rubbers. It is very active at temperatures above 280°F. Activation requires the addition of zinc oxide, a fatty acid and sulfur for cure development.
  • Is accelerator MBTs available in a polymer bound dispersion?
  • Accelerator MBTS is also available in a polymer bound dispersion. Several polymer carriers are available. These polymeric masterbatches contain 70-80% Accelerator MBTS and are very soft for ease of incorporation. Akrochem polymer bound dispersions eliminate irritating dust, as well as other potential hazards in handling powders in the plant.
  • What temperature is MBTs active?
  • It is very active at temperatures above 280°F. Activation requires the addition of zinc oxide, a fatty acid and sulfur for cure development. Secondary accelerators used in conjunction with MBTS such as aldehyde amines, dithiocarbamates, guanidines, and thiurams will increase cure rates.
  • What is MBTs used for?
  • MBTS is also used as a retarder in polychloroprene cure systems, as well as a retarder for peroxide cures. Blends of MBTS and BBTS are often employed in tire vulcanization cure systems. MBTS is a safe processing accelerator, but increased scorch resistance can be obtained with the addition of Retarder PX, Retarder AK, or Retarder SAFE.
  • How is MBTs used in a polychloroprene cure system?
  • Activation requires the addition of zinc oxide, a fatty acid and sulfur for cure development. Secondary accelerators used in conjunction with MBTS such as aldehyde amines, dithiocarbamates, guanidines, and thiurams will increase cure rates. MBTS is also used as a retarder in polychloroprene cure systems, as well as a retarder for peroxide cures.
